Will SAAC ever have an Event at the Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds Alabama (Birmingham, AL). That is a very nice Road Course Track and it has plenty of Paved Parking for Participants, Venders and Spectators. I live in Tallahassee Florida and I would like to see more SAAC Events in the South East.

You can always suggest it to them...

As mentioned in the past... the dilemma has always been finding a facility of the proper size, with availability on the dates they want...with a nearby hotel or convention center that can handle the 500-1000 attendees.

This place can handle that and more easy. It was the site for the huge Mustang's 40th Anniversary Event put on by MCA. I was there for the whole Event and it had over 2000 Mustangs & Shelby's on hand plus a couple hundred thousand people checking it out. The Road Course is grrrrrrreat. I got to drive on it and I would really like to see a SAAC Event take place there. They have plent of Seating, Restrooms, Food Vender Buildings, ETC.

I walked those grades between parking levels at Barber's during the MCA event one day. Great venue but I would hate to wall up and down those "banks" all day for three or four days.

It's a great track and could easily accommodate a SAAC event. I was at SAAC32 and then at the Grand Am event at Barber two weeks later, and while both tracks are state of the art - with the exception of garage space - Barber is far and away a better venue. As a bonus, the museum's collection on motorcycles may be the best in the world and could host the dinner. Alas - given the poor turnout in Atlanta for SAAC20 - I don't think they want to get so far south.

First of all, let's put to rest the ridiculous "dilemma" that "The track must have nearby hotels and convention center" BS and take a look at this year and the past year. The venue this year is miles from hotels, that's why everything is being done at the track. I will assume these events from now on will be held at venues where SAAC is charged little to nothing to hold the event, but where SAAC members will still be charged the usual prices. I also attended the event at Barber 2 years ago as a guest of MCA to give rides on the Superformance GT40/Cobra/Daytona Coupe and thought the track to be fantastic, and have attended SVRA vintage events in the past. It is a world class facility. There are many great road courses in the US that could be used as well such as Road Atlanta, Road America, etc. A new place in North Carolina, www.racehighrock.com will be joining those ranks next year. I think the only place that has "issues" is Lime Rock due to that stupid noise abatement rule imposed there and even so, I attended 2 SAAC's there and drove all those miles from the hotels and banquet. I attended SAAC from 1995-2005 with the exception of Fontana, and I always enjoyed the event and seeing friends and cars, but I'm losing interest every month I get a newsletter or something in the mail telling me I need to send money to the legal fund.

A good thing about this Track is that the Hotels are not that far away. I didn't care to much about Driving 40 Miles to theTrack from the closest decent Hotel in Nashville. Maybe TEAM SHELBY will do one there soon.
